Sustainable rice for people and the planet
Rice is a vital daily food for half of the world’s population, yet it has the largest carbon footprint of all food crops. By 2050, the world will need to almost double rice production to meet the population demand. Under current conditions, this might require additional land equivalent to the size of Chile.
Changing the way rice is produced will be the key to fighting the climate crisis while combating hunger. We need and can work together to transform the global rice sector for people and planet, both on-farm and throughout the rice value chain.
