Treatment Decisions for Lyme Disease
There are different approaches to treating Lyme disease, depending upon the severity of a patient's symptoms and how long they may have been infected. Antibiotics are typically prescribed but the duration of treatment varies. The International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) believes in treating with antibiotics until symptoms resolve. The Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) believe in treating only for 30 days even if symptoms persist.
