Van de Graaff generator demonstration
In this video I demonstrate a Van de Graaff generator functioning. A Van de Graaff generator works by static electricity - the rubber bands strip electrons from a piece of felt to the metal ball at the top. When enough charge builds up and an object is close enough, the static will visibly discharge at up to 100,000 volts. This is not normally dangerous, as the current is very low.
