| DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT |
'A Study in Standard' was conceived of the desire to showcase manual driving ability in a way that also communicates personality, flare, and a touch of cheek. While much of the world learns to drive standard by default, the U.S. does away with more manual transmissions every year. Driving manual is not for the faint of heart. What started as a collaboration on a special skill performance video became a whimsical joyride and journey for us. I am so grateful to my collaborators--Jeremy Perdok, cinematographer, and Michael Angelo de la Cruz Ortiz, sound recordist and composer, for their dedication to this film, as well as James Luther and Paul Wilson for their contributions.
