Placemaking and Sport: Revamping spaces for active people in Valencia (Spain)
Valencia in Spain is a sports-friendly city. Through ISCA's Placemaking and Sport project, partners DES and the City of Valencia are working together to establish a unified vision for the sustainable (re)development of public spaces in the city to meet the growing demand for activities in urban areas.
Valencia is dubbed "the city of running" and its infrastructure not only serves tourists - it also provides safe running and walking paths for local residents to use every day. The Placemaking and Sport pilot project in Valencia wants to see even more activity in the city - focusing on making school facilities available to the public, revamping tired sports facilities and using its beaches as an asset in getting more people active.
