Refraction is the change in the direction of a wave passing from one medium to another caused by its change in speed. Refraction occurs when light passes from one medium to a medium with different index of refraction.
The Abbe refractometer is employed for determining the concentration of solutions,
for purity tests and quality checks of liquid,plastic, and solid substances,and as an auxiliary instrument for investigating macromolecular substances.
Abbé refractometer working principle is based on critical angle.
