Abandoned Nike Missile Base - Swedesboro NJ
Originally in operation from the 1950's to 1970's, there are a number of former Nike Missile Bases located across the United States, with a handful being located right in New Jersey! These locations have sat slowly decaying for the past few decades as government bureaucracy has prevented towns from being able to completely remove these ruins. This particular location still had radar towers that are completely accessible to climb, although admittedly the view was less than spectacular. The underground areas of the base that once held the missiles are completely submerged under several feet of water, presumably done on purpose to some degree to keep people out.
