Lobstering is an activity we like to participate in at the Shark Lab! The Caribbean spiny lobster season in The Bahamas is open from August 1st - March 31st. Lobster and other marine resources are important for the economy of The Bahamas, and therefore, these resources are highly regulated. The minimum tail length must be 5 1/2 inches and the minimum carapace size must be 3 3/8 inches to keep lobster. We carefully measure all of the lobster we catch and only keep ones that are well over the minimum size. There is a limit of 10 lobsters per vessel. Females that are egg-bearing must never be harvested. For more regulations on lobster regulations, check out the flyer on breef.org.
