WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR SOUL AFTER DEATH?
Question: Hodja, can you tell us what happens to our souls after we die so that we can overcome my fear of death? Are there any narrations about this?
Answer: As soon as the eyes open. He realizes that what he has heard or read about the Ahirah is true.
"Certainly you were heedless of it, but now We have removed from you your veil, so your sight today is sharp." Surah Qaf [50:22]
"Bera bin Azip (RA) narrates:
We attended the funeral of one of the ansar with the Rasullallah alayhi s-salām. We reached the cemetery at the time of the burial of the funeral. The Rasullallah alayhi s-salām sat. We sat quietly and calmly as if there were birds on our heads. Rasullallah alayhi s-salām was drawing something on the ground with a stick in his hand. He (alayhi s-salām) raised his head and said two or three times, "I seek refuge in Allah from the punishment in grave." The He (alayhi s-salām) said "when the Mumin is placed in a grave, two angels come when his friends turn away and their footsteps are still heard. They make him or her sit and the following conversation goes between them:
"Who is your Rabb?"
"My Rabb is Allah."
"What is your religion?"
"My religion is Islam."
"Who is sent by Allah to call you on the right path?"
"He is the Prophet alayhi s-salām of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala ."
"Where did you learn that from?"
"I read the book of Allah and believed in her, and I accepted His righteousness."
Here, it is the meaning of the ayah: "Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills." Surah Ibrahim [14:27]
"Then comes a voice from Jannah: 'My khul said it right." Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala himself. Place him or her worthy of Jannah. Dress her or him in clothes from Jannah. Open her or him a door to Jannah."
"And he or she is granted the comfort and beauty of heaven. The grave is extended to the distance seen by the eye."
"If the dead is an kafir or a munafıq, his soul is returned to his body when placed in a grave. Two angels come. They make him or her sit and the conversation goes between them:"
"Who is your Rabb?"
"Huh! Huh! I don't know."
"What is your religion?"
"Huh! I don't know."
"Who is the person who has been sent by Allah to call you on the right path?"
"Huh! I don't know."
"Then comes a voice from heaven." Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala shouts: "This is a lie. Prepare him for hell. Dress her or him in clothes from Jahannam, and open a door that looks at her or him from Jahannam."
"Then comes the heat of jahannam and the scorching wind. The tomb is narrowed until the ribs are engaged. Then a blind and dumb zabaniyya haunts him or her. He has a knob of iron, which, if he is struck on the mountain, turns the mountain into dust. This devastating zabaniyya hits him or her with such a knob that all beings in all parts of the Earth, in the east and west, except for man and demons, hear this horrible blow. And that person turns into soil. Then the spirit is returned again. In that way torture goes on and on." (Musleem, Jannah:71.)
