How have I never heard of these awesome critters? I had no idea what an angle, nope, anole was (neither did my autocorrect.) Apparently they're super-common on the eastern seaboard of the U.S.
Yes, he is brown at the start and then bright green by the end. No, he's not a chameleon. He's a green anole lizard. These crazy critters change colors at will.
And yes, he's a he because his behavior is textbook male anole behavior. Specifically, blowing up his dewlap (another new word for me), that inflatable pink pouch under his chin, is common behavior for males and not for females. Trust me, I looked it up on the internet:
