Monday, July 11, marked the start of the Surf’s Up Summer Learning and Waves of Enrichment summer programs. The Surf’s Up program is a curriculum-based camp designed to help students excel academically through unique learning opportunities. “The best part is that kids struggling with behavioral issues are succeeding and wanting to participate,” explained Katelyn Lindsey, site lead at Meadow Ridge Elementary. Lindsey credits this growth to the summertime small class sizes, extra staff support, and learning material catered to student’s level.
The Waves of Enrichment program is an afternoon summer program intended to provide students with exploratory enrichment experiences related to science, art, physical education, and more. Some of the extracurricular activities include a study of reptiles and insects, engineering with uncooked pasta and marshmallows, and a juggling course.
