Mercedes-Benz M274 Engine Diagnostic & Maintenance Guide (Mercedes W204, W205, W211, W212, & More)
►The Mercedes-Benz M274 engine is a departure from the straight-six or v8 engines that Mercedes has come to be known for. As with most companies chasing higher output and higher fuel efficiency, Mercedes has joined the likes of VW/Audi in creating a two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged, direct-injected engine.
The Mercedes M274 can be found in models across Mercedes' entire lineup, from the SLK to the E-class, C-class, GLC, and even models with transversely-mounted engines. Some of the most popular models you will find this engine in today are:
Mercedes-Benz C300
Mercedes-Benz E300
Mercedes-Benz GLC300
Mercedes-Benz SLK300
Although not a particularly inspiring engine, it does come with the added benefit of being one that's reliable. With only a handful of potential failure points and fairly basic maintenance necessities, Kyle Bascombe, FCP Euro's Mercedes Catalog Manager, walks you through each, giving you the necessary knowledge to buy or own a Mercedes equipped with the M274 engine.
In this video, FCP Euro's Mercedes Catalog Manager, Kyle Bascombe, covers all of the topics, including:
