Functional Grammar aims at describing language in actual use. Its focus is on texts and their contexts. This type of grammar sets a language as a resource for making meaning. Functional Grammar discusses aspects of the circumstances under which people enter into verbal or written communication. Functional grammar, as explained by Halliday (1994) is concerned with meanings.
