The mission and activities of AWWA – have an emphasis on scientific perspective and public health.
We all need drinking water; it has to come from somewhere; that’s called the water source; forests help provide clean water sources.
Protection of these sources is critical for sustainable public health.
This is such an important issue to pay attention to NOW, due to issues such as rising urban populations and diminishing forestland area.
Most utilities can be reactive to these problems, and according to water managers, this can cause additional difficulties and costs in the short and long term.
Water utilities are beginning to take a proactive role in source water protection through forest conservation and stewardship, and can actually save them money in the long run: lowering treatment costs, etc.
Forest and Source Water Protection is critical for our future.
Healthy forests are critical to the future of our drinking water.
