How to build yourself a nice side income from selling game assets, enough to fund the early stages of your game dev career. This advice is from my own experience, it takes a lot of focused work to reach a level where you can offer commercially viable products, but it's worth it, and it's way less work compared to making an actual game. I don't really talk about which courses you need to take to become a 3D artist, pixel artist, musician or any of the other skills that will allow you to publish on the asset store, because it doesn't matter, take any course you want (Udemy is choke full of them, there's an abundance of good courses out there!), but just do it and get started, this is your moment, laser focus on a single thing, and you will be ready in a couple of months.
Unless you're too lazy to do the work and prefer to bitch and moan about the lack of opportunities and how bleak the game dev scene is, there are hundreds of failed game devs who turn into doomers and grifters, and probably the most eggregious examples are actually successful devs who made one or two games, and now they're asking for thousands of dollars in courses to teach you how to do it, and their courses are full of the most basic shit imaginable. If you don't have control over your own emotions, the world is ready to screw you over and take every penny you have. My video here is hopefully a glimmer of hope, watch my other one about being a freelancer. You don't have to give up your game dev dream just because you can't make and finish full games, you can still be a game developer working on small projects, having the time of your life, and making some income on the side.
