My Thoughts on Growl (Runark)
I remember seeing the Sega Genesis version of this game and thought it was pretty cool, but once playing the arcade version in full it's just an average beat 'em up. I really enjoyed the idea of animals helping you fight - I just wish it was incorporated more. The moves are basic, extremely basic even for a beat 'em up and you'll find a ton of enemies on screen. The bosses are way too difficult as it feels they were meant to guzzle quarters back in the day. I feel Growl has a very specific audience and I definitely wasn't the one to reach it
Would You Recommend Someone to Play Growl (Runark)?
Honestly, no. I just found it a bit repetitive and basic even for a beat 'em up. Like I've stated before it would have been nice to incorporate the animals more as this game makes you save them. It also would have been nice to have a lot more moves but my guess it's just a product of its time.
What Was Your Favorite Level In Growl?
The first stage gave off a good impression that Growl was going to be this spectacular crazy beat em up with rocket launchers and animals. I definitely enjoyed the first level a lot as you blow up enemies with the rocket launcher
What Was Your Least Favorite Level in Growl?
The platforming level which I believe is Stage 5, it's absolutely awful. It just seems so out of place for this beat 'em up. At that point in the game, it just seems like it was a part where all of your quarters would have been spent because of how cheap it was.
Who Was The Most Difficult Boss in Growl Aside from the Final Boss?
I would have to say when all of the stage bosses come in towards the end was a bit ridiculous, I don't care how skilled you think you are those bosses are incredibly difficult.
