Kern began trading about 3 years ago after retiring due to health issues from banking risk management. Unimpressed with the returns other funds could give him from his pension, he decided to reinvent himself and try his own hand at it.

He developed a good strategy but wanted to size up and add more granularity for risk management, so he looked for funded trading options and found Trade The Pool (TTP).

It took some work to adapt his trading style to TTP's rules, but he successfully adapted and recommends the rules as useful for new traders. For his specific trades, he found the availability of short trades better than the locates he could find from his own brokers.

Kern is one of TTP's funded traders, managing a $160K account, or as we call it, a true 'Stock Star.'

Here are some of Kern's stats:
🔹 Best Stock: $CLDX
🔹 Success Rate: 63%
🔹 Biggest Win: Short on $CLDX 600 shares making $1785
🔹 Biggest Loss: Short on $BNZI 3000 shares losing $1491

ℹ️ Kern had a strong start, then took losses while recovering from surgery, but by watching his risk he retained most of his initial gains and rebounded to pass.

In the second portion of the interview, he walked us through his stock-picking methodology and his entry strategy. Kern described how he took a popular theme – shorting small-caps – and refined his approach for repeatability and lower risk.
