Hey Guys its Nil and welcome to HardCreLinux, Linux Mint's default look in mint 19.3 looks really gourgious but by twiking a little bit you can convert it into something like this , whch looks more mordern and eye catching, optimised your workflow for sure, so enough taking let's dive into this,
1. Change Desktop Background
Mint got a ton of beautiful background init, choose any one of them or you can donwlode
as your preference.
2. Move the panel up
2nd thing which I like to do is move the panel at the top, then go to panel settings
Hare you can select your prepfered panel behavior from auto-hide panel option,
but what I like to do, decrease the panel size to a sweet point, your panel size may
deffer form mine..
3.Install Docky
Now I am going to install a dock, its docky in this case, to install docky open your
terminal and type sudo apt install dokcy, give it your root password and it will
install docky
then goto mint menu and search for docky, press enter and docky will be up and
running
to customised docky click on the ancor sign om docky it will open preference window
for docky form here you can choce whatever settings are suitable for you,
I like a 3d background and I am gonna decrease the zoom on icons, choosing transparen
theme since I like docky that way
4. Installting Numix and Moka icon and Theme pack
Up next I am going to install Numix and Moka theme packs, to install those simply copy
and paste those commands, all commands are avalable in the description feel free to use
them
Installing Moka icon packs
After installing theke packs go to settings and open themes section and select icons
option.... as you can see the icons packs are installed choose moka icon pack if you like
it, But I am goin for Numix-cirle incon pack since Its my favarite
Now we need to change the panel, I prefered a tranparent panel which mathches with the
look and make it complete, to do that, go to Desktop option and choice the panel you
like, to install custom panels simply goto add/remove option and install the panel you like.
In this case I install cBlue panle since its matchs with rest of look.
5. Install conky
now we need conky, install it simply open your terminal and type
sudo apt install conky-all, give it your root password and conky will be install..
6. Install conky-manager
up next we need conky manager to manage conky in a graphical way..
To install conky-manger simply copy and paste those commands..
after its done goto mint menu and search for conky-manager, then hit enter
now choice whatever you like form the menu...after its done you can see the conky-templates does't blend properly
with the background, to fit this issue simply sleect that templete and goto settings in the tranparancy tab select type as
tranparent and click on apply and problem solved... do this with rest of your templetes
to change the position of your templetes, go to Location tab and change the valus as you prefered then click on aplly.
after all this done go to cony settings and activate conky at startup
7. Remove desktop icons
Last thing is, you need to get rid of those desktop icons for a overall clean look, to do that right clik on desktop and chooce customised
from there navigate to desktop settings, under desktop layout option chose no dekstop icon
And thats the final look of your customised linux mint 19.3
