Half guard is a position that quickly determines who wins and who loses a fight on the ground. Understanding a few key principles: move yourself when you can’t move your opponent. Make frames to stop your opponent from moving the way he wants to move and help push you out. When fighting defensively, create spaces. Half guard is a series of small battles for tiny spaces that make a massive difference in determining who controls the action.

Every MMA fighter and BJJ athlete needs to understand how to unpin themselves so they can standup, sweep, work for submissions, or strike.
