PROFILE OF MR. ALAN JOHNSON
Deputy President, IFAC Alan was elected the Deputy President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) for two years in November 2018. He currently chairs IFAC’s Planning & Finance Committee and is deputy chair of the Nominating Committee.

He is a non-executive director of the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and chairs its Audit & Risk Assurance Committee, is on the Board of Trustees of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), chairs the Internal Control Committee of Jerónimo Martins – a Portuguese Euronext-listed food retailer with operations in Poland, Portugal and Columbia, and chairs the Board of Governors of St. Julian’s British International School in Portugal.

Alan was CFO of Jerónimo Martins (2012-2014) and a non-executive director until 2016. He was Chief Audit Executive at Unilever between 2006 and 2011.
Alan worked for Unilever for over 30 years in finance and operational roles, including as CFO of the Global Foods Division, senior vice president of the global ice cream business and the European home & personal care businesses, and was senior vice president for Investor Relations. During his time at Unilever he lived and worked in 7 countries across three continents.

Alan was a member of the Market Oversight Committee of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) between 2006 and 2012, and was on IFAC’s Professional Accountants in Business Committee between 2011 and 2015.
