Carbon Mobile unveiled its thinnest and flattest smartphone, the Carbon 1 Mk 2, during the canceled Mobile World Congress 2020. The smartphone is just 6.3 millimeters thick and weighs only 125 grams. Theoretically, the iPhone SE, at 113 grams, or the LG K4, at 120 grams, would be lighter, but these two smartphones only have a display size of 4 and 4.5 inches, respectively.
The Carbon 1 Mk II smartphone is the first smartphone with a genuine carbon fiber case, which also makes it the lightest smartphone. This smartphone not only features a carbon fiber case, but also the thinnest Corning Gorilla Glass 6. A smartphone that aims to prove how thin and light a smartphone can be.
The weight of the Carbon 1 Mk II is made possible by a unibody carbon fiber case. In addition to the material normally used in Formula 1, the case also features the thinnest Gorilla Glass 6 at 0.4 mm, making the device only 6.3 mm thick.
Carbon Mobile itself is a Berlin-based startup that designs its smartphones entirely in Germany. Their vision for the future is to also manufacture their smartphones in Germany, but this is still difficult to achieve with their first officially available smartphone.
You can see what Carbon Mobile's thinnest and flattest smartphone can do in my hands-on video.
