One
-------
They came from all directions
High on themselves
Shaping the world around them
Happiness or faith they explained
You spoke in the present about the past
It sounded the same but it wasn’t
And after you said it you wanted to kill it
I had been waiting for that
First your hands and then your voice
I let them in and you are all over
Beyond anything I know
It’s vast and unexpected
And as usual the body is speaking
Of meaning
Of love
Of purpose
The pleasure turns to addiction
I think that I’m an animal now
Not human let’s say
Asocial and shy
Holding up in my rooms
Protecting my own
Cause what used to be beautiful is not anymore
It might change again
But people kissing just looks wrong
The women in my dreams are superior to me
With better lives and better men
Holding on to answers
They can see how I behave and they judge me for it
When the dream lifts
I’m usually lost
and the things I say are intuitive
and I like that
But sometimes I doubt what I say as soon as I’ve said it
Your beauty is awakening
it keeps me from my sleep
This is how I face the morning
Hiding in her breath
