TRIP Hard Seltzer Review
In today’s NJroute22.com VLOG – we’re going to get straight to the chase about TRIP Hard
Seltzer.
TRIP is just another seltzer {that costs too much!}
The specs regarding the TRIP brand Hard Seltzer are acceptable.
5% alcohol by volume, and 2.3 grams of carbs per 16-ounce can. That works out to under 2g of carbs if you’re comparing to 12-ounce cans (1.725g to be exact). Nowhere near a deal-breaker.
However, the cost is our issue – as well as the overall experience.
The cost is between $9-10 per FOUR pack of these seltzers. That works out to around 15 cents per ounce. For comparative purposes, our favorite seltzer, Smirnoff Zero Sugar Seltzer, is only 10 cents per ounce.
Now if the TRIP Seltzer was “phenomenal” for some reason – or offered a unique “perk” unattainable elsewhere, we’d be okay.
But it wasn’t, and they don’t.
So it just equates to a pretty average seltzer and a very above-average price.
Try it for yourself – and we suspect you will likely feel the same way.
(Related note: Many seltzer brands apparently now offer some stupid “story” or other totally unrelated “schtick” beyond just selling a quality product. Whether it’s giving to charity or some other kind of nonsensical hook. Everyone wants to stand out or connect with a demographic or other social niches. We hate that. We find it bogus and disingenuous. Yeah, it may be hard to knock a good cause – but I’m sure you know that every decision like that is usually never done out of pure altruism. They’re normally orchestrated by marketing departments.)
In the end – we weren’t impressed with the TRIP Hard Seltzer experience. Wasn’t horrible – we didn’t throw up. But they were not fantastic either. And the much higher price-point pretty much rules out any chance that we will ever buy them again.
Plenty of much better options out there.
