Trains Meet in Athens Ohio on the Kanawha River Railroad
Growing up in Athens on Norfolk Southern's West Virginia Secondary, I only ever witnessed one or two times where one train passed another at Armitage Siding. Under Kanawha River Railroad, it's been even more slim...but recently, a work train consisting of an SD60 and a flatcar with sections of rail has been moving up and down the line dropping rail where needed. On February 19th, that work train happened to be parked in Armitage, waiting for the passage of KN381 before a crew showed up to get to work. It was great to see two trains passing in my hometown, and they even work the black and white colors of NS I grew up seeing here!
