This was one of my own personal goals of completing a map on Hell on Earth difficulty as a Zerker prior to the changes. There's a lot of community talks about how bad the Zerker is right now and that really kept me motivated to accomplish this.
Let's move on and talk a little bit about the video.
Weapons and Armor:
Crovel - I keep the crovel all the way to the end, it has a faster rate of fire than the pulverizer so it's a better choice for trash clears and it can actually 1 hit kill bloats as they have bonus damage against them.
AR - In all my runs I either purchased for 200 after wave 1 or find one and save that 200. Without this gun I don't really have a safe way to pick off Husks and Sirens (early waves). Husks can pretty much instagib me with their flamethrower and without armor they seem to do upwards to 50 from the launcher+burn. In short, I did not want to go anywhere near them.
Pulverizer - My large Zed and Siren clearer. FP and Siren take bonus damage from explosives (alt fire) and the alt is the perfect way to setup the scrake circle. It's also the highest single hit that I could buy and still not lose movement speed, so it also is the ideal choice for Hans.
Armor - I keep my armor at 100 at the start of waves at all times. This is my 1 mistake insurance. If I get surrounded at no armor then I'm dead. If I get surrounded with 100 armor, I can make quick decisions to make an escape route and take it with still recoverable health left (40-50).
In terms of purchase order, armor+AR wave 1, armor recover only til wave 4 at which point I will buy a Pulv (start of FP waves) and then I'm set for endgame.
So there's a lot of tricks and mechanic exploits that I use in this run. First is the way that I open the doors, I want to open them in such a way that when I go to clear mobs the door is open away from me. The reason for that is, it will funnel the enemies to me in a single line and also gives me the first attack. If the door is open towards me, they can actually hit me before I can even see them since they can ignore the open door and hit you but you are still stuck attacking the door. Also there's a door blocking your view.
Next is my main location, you'll see me window perching and that is really important because that prevents any flanks. Everything that can hit me is coming at me from the front. The worst thing that happens is when you or your team gets flanked and then the next thing that you know, everyone is dead.
Some AI exploits:
Circle strafing scrakes - Wave 4 : • (Early Access Patch 1006) Killing Floor 2 ...
The Scrakes have a 90 degree and 180 degree turn animation which is exploitable to keep them in that loop. Hans can be done in a similar manner but I instead use a safer strat.
AI corner "disappearing act" kite : • (Early Access Patch 1007) Killing Floor 2 ...
I use this on the Fleshpounds as it's a really safe tactic as long as you're "hidden"
Siren scream range - There are some interesting properties with the Siren scream where you must be in targettable range for the damage to go through. You'll see me bait screams as she's coming up the stairs then hug the left side to prevent any damage and then chop her down.
Some other tactics I involve are properly managing the teleportation mechanic. The ZEDs can only teleport if they are outside of a certain range and they will only do once every ~10s IIRC. As long as you have a good spawn amount near you when you go around a corner you only have to deal with 1-2 appearing instead of everything you just ran from.
Hans tactic - This was something that I actually found accidentally and user JudiCCC pointed out in my furious defender demo video ( • KF2 v1007 - 1 Zerker vs x Scrakes, 54 hp S... ). The corner near the front door forces AI to go all the way through the courtyard in the bottom and then go up the stairs. Using this I was able to "safely" attack Hans while forcing him to run a further distance to get to me.
His Life leech will not drain past a certain threshold and you are also invulnerable during it so I just let him do it as soon as possible before the spawned ZEDs arrive. It seems that after a lifeleech his attack will always be nades so I just duck around the corner while healing.
I think that's about all I can say about this. I have to thank the following people:
CatBeard, Kold and Ragna for being beta testers of this game with myself.
SimpleCat for his/her google doc that has amazing KF2 info - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...
And all you folks in the steam forums and TWi forums.
