You may have received an email from Google asking for Google Adsense identity verification. Once you receive this email, you have 30 days to submit the documentation to start identity verification in Google Ads.
If you don’t submit the documentation within 30 days, your Google Ads account will be paused and your ads will stop running.
What is Google Ads Identity Verification?
The Google advertiser identity verification was first announced by Google on April 23, 2020, in connection with their 2018 policy update requiring identity verification for political advertisements.
This was done to improve advertising transparency with users and ensure all businesses registered with Google Ads are legitimate businesses.
Why has Google rolled out the Advertiser Identity Verification Program?
1. To ensure a safe and trustworthy ad experience for users
2. To increase transparency
This means that all the ads you are running will contain a disclosure using the information that you've provided during the verification process.
The name of your Ecommerce store and the country of sale will be displayed in a disclosure that is automatically generated by Google.
What happens if you don’t comply with the Advertiser Identity Verification process?
1. Your account will be paused (if you don’t complete the verification process within 30 days).
2. If you’ve provided false information during the verification program, your verification will be revoked and your account may be SUSPENDED.
3. Google may also pause your account if they suspect you are attempting to circumvent their verification process or your identity is unclear.
4. Your account will remain paused until you complete the verification program, which can take 5-7 days depending on your account setup.
