I. Download the mod pack prepared for Steam Deck. Extract the files to the folder with a clean copy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted and update 1.3.
II. Replace the files if prompted during the copy process.
III. Add Need for Speed: Most Wanted.exe as a non-Steam game.
IV. In Gaming Mode, find Need for Speed Most Wanted.exe in your library under the "Non-Steam Games" category.
V. Force-launch the game using Proton. I recommend the latest ProtonGE.
VI. Rename the game to Need for Speed Most Wanted if you want to easily download covers using the Steam Grid plugin.
VII. Add the startup command: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
VIII. Launch the game. The game hangs on a black screen for about half a minute. Wait patiently for it to launch.
The mod also works on PC – the installation process is identical to Steam Deck, except for forcing Proton and the launch commands. Unzip the files to the game folder and launch it using Need for Speed Most Wanted.exe.
