Susquehanna Smallmouth July Rising Water Patterns
I had not been on the Susquehanna since February, and had a day to hit the Harrisburg area. I stayed well below the "in-bounds" region of the Bassmaster Kayak Series event that started the following day to give those competitors room to prefish. In all, I covered over 14 miles, up and back from the West Fairview launch. Targeting smallmouth in grass beds and turbulent convergences of current brought the best bites, especially late in the day. The less than a foot rise in river level made for better power fishing bite than we would see with normal summer low clear conditions.
