Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day on the off week for the Buckeyes: “We’re calling this week an ‘Improvement Week.’ We need to continue to improve,” he said. “We’ve got to stay in rhythm. We have to have a great week of practice. We need to treat it like a game week.”

More from Ryan Day on the bye week: “You don’t usually have two bye weeks... especially this early in the season. These guys are hungry. They don’t want to rest right now,” he said. “They understand how important this is. They want to get better.”

The Buckeyes need time to relax as their college football schedule is not easy

Ryan Day on Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke vs. Western Michigan: “There were a couple of different opinions on that,” he said. “That's all I can say. I wish I could say more.”

Ryan Day said he’s been “happy to see” Kyle McCord succeed at Syracuse through two weeks. Day said McCord “poured a lot into” the Ohio State football program with how hard he worked during his three years in Columbus.

Ryan Day on Ohio State linebacker C.J. Hicks: “We believe in C.J. [Hicks] in a big way,” Day said. “We want him, need him to play linebacker.”

Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles on Ty Hamilton: “Ty is quiet, but he’s like a cold-blooded gentleman,” Knowles said. “He's a force. Sometimes that might be difficult to see. But when you watch the tape, he is really knocking people back and creating difficult situations for the offense.”
