Perodua Ativa - Android Auto Wireless Quick Demonstration
In this video I demonstrated the use of an old Android phone (Nexus 6P) that is repurposed as a Android Auto device for a headunit that uses a proprietary USB casting solution.. in this case this is a Perodua Ativa stock headunit with touchscreen display.
It uses a EasyConnection protocol (to be honest it's anything but easy) alongside with using headunit reloaded to enable the functionality of Android Auto.
I also rooted and installed tweaks such as SecondScreen to do things such as turning off display of phone if casted to the headunit... which can improve charging and also lengthen the phone lifespan..
