Stepping into this space means seeing the human side of Walt Disney. He’s so often larger than life in our minds, more legend than man, but he was a husband, dad, and a grandfather. He had aches and pains, enjoyed the simple pleasure of comfort food, and didn’t allow his success to keep him from seeing what made Disneyland truly magical… the people who visit it. I think that’s still true today, that those of us who love Disneyland are the keepers of the magic that makes the park feel alive. Well, that and the wonderful CMs and Imagineers who do so much work everyday to preserve this happy place 🥰
The firehouse apartment was meant to be a little Victorian haven. “Mother and Dad loved the Victorian period—it was the period they grew up in—but our home was not of that style… This was their little Victorian masterpiece. Mother collected cranberry glass, and cranberry is the color that dominates this apartment.
