A new study appears to have provided a first clue by focusing on the impact of insulin on the brain.
What may seem shocking to some is that, after comparing data from study participants over nine years, it was found that individuals with almost no insulin sensitivity only lost visceral fat in the first few months of following a diet. However, they quickly regained the weight after the initial period, despite continuing their diet and exercise, according to Dr. Stefanie Kuhlmann, one of the study's authors, as reported by the German website "Heilpraxis."
The brain's sensitivity to insulin is responsible for the accumulation of visceral fat in the abdomen. Therefore, insulin is responsible for abdominal fat accumulation, while subcutaneous fat cells are not affected by this hormone. This finding could also lead to a breakthrough in the treatment of diseases caused by visceral fat, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and others.
