WE and V: Comparing English "w" & "v" consonant pronunciation with examples of minimal pair words
Many English learners have difficulty distinguishing between the consonant sounds /w/ and /v/. This video is intended to help train you to hear the difference in the pronunciation of these sounds more clearly.
This video has many examples of the English minimal pair ''we" (/wiː/) and the name of the letter 'V' (/viː/). The only difference in the pronunciation of these words is the initial consonant.
The video will present many examples of the two words, one after the other, so that you can compare their prounciations. It will then play all the examples of each word together so you can hear each sound from many voices.
In the first part of the video, you will hear each voice first pronounce 'we', which starts with (/w/) , and then pronounce 'V', which starts with (/v/).
In the second part of the video, you will hear each voice first pronounce 'V', which starts with (/v/) , and then pronounce 'we', which starts with (/w/).
In the final part of the video, you will hear every voice pronounce 'we', and then hear every voice pronounce 'V'.
