Juvenile Huntington's: Voice Banking for AAC and Cognitive Decline
This video spans the two-year period between Marshall "Mo" Jacobsen's diagnosis with Juvenile Huntington's Disease at the age of eleven through his use of AAC at the age of thirteen. I focused on our use of voice banking, cognitive habilitation, repetition of basic safety facts, one example of diadochokinesis (not for apraxia assessment, but to assess length of utterance on a single breath when I didn't have my pulmonary function equipment present), and increased use of stereotypic utterances. Mo's use of voice banking has greatly increased his interest in - and use of - his AAC device. His memory, cognition, and swallowing function are of increasing concern.
