Quick and easy way to meet the guard post requirements in the IRC. @strongtie SDWS Timber screws are easy and fast to install, but make sure you follow the instructions in the Technical Bulletin T-F-GRDPSTRL18 or check the catalog starting on page 118.
I found that installing the blocking and post with a few SDWS framing screws to hold it in place made it, easy to lay out the precise location of the SDWS timber screws. I started them all, then double checked the drawings. I kept the drawings on my tablet, but next time I would print them out. A drill is what the catalog shows, but I found with some of the 8” screws I didn’t have room for the drill and used the impact driver instead.
