Installing HTT4 Hold Down in a tight space (Chris Farely in a little coat). Well, I realized I did not move the stud off layout to give me access to use the nailer, so I checked the catalog. Page 57 gives me the fastener option for the HTT4 and I can use 18 #10 x 1/2" SD screws. These have been designed and tested by @strongtie , don't use just any screw) and actually give me a slightly higher tension rating than the 2 1/2" x .162" nail, 4,455 vs 4235. Incidentally the cost between the nails and screws is immaterial when you only have a few hold downs to install.

What's the point? Being a framer is not just about being suave, fashionably late, high cheekbones or smize. It is our ability to fix our mistakes #framing
