This is just three simple burn tests to see the reaction of my homemade smoke powder mix. The powder was made by turning ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride into potassium nitrate. Then, that mixture was dried and crushed and combined with the same amount of powdered sugar for a 50/50 mix of sugar and potassium nitrate. To my surprise, it ignited pretty easy, and smelled so sweet when burning.

I didn't do anything fancy. Just three different angles of a pile of the mixture in a junk candle holder. Next time, I might do some lines (if I can find a place I don't mind scorching).

I got my instructions for making the smoke mix, which could be used in smoke bombs or as a sort of crude "gunpowder", over at Mad Science World: http://mad-science.wonderhowto.com/bl...
