Hello. I'm Locke Meredith and I have a Legal Lines Tip for you. Remember knowledge is power, and I want you to know if you have a bunch of medical expenses from an accident or an injury, you may have a lot of different sources from whom you can collect recovery and pay those medical expenses. The problem is there are consequences with who you choose to collect payment from. You hope that the person who's at fault and caused the injury has got insurance and they pay you. This would be a long time down the road in all probability. So you may look to health insurance. You may look to workers' comp.
There may be some other insurance coverage like med pay. The federal government may pay. But you need to understand that they're gonna intervene in your lawsuit and in your claim, and try and get from the person who's at fault the money they paid. And if there's a limited amount of money available to you to compensate you, or if your source is only UM, it's important to know that certain parties aren't entitled to the same amount of recovery. So my Legal Lines Tip from me, Locke Meredith to you is, be careful and understand the consequences of who you choose to pay your medical expenses.
