How I customize my Xfce desktop
In this video I want to share how I customize my Xfce desktop, whatever Linux distribution you use. The ultimate goal is to be able to use the entire screen for the windows without wasting space, and to still be able to control everything from the bottom panel.
Here's what I do:
empty desktop, with only the "mounted devices" option enabled;
in the "work areas" section set a margin of a few pixels at the bottom (10px are more than enough), so that you can scroll the work areas with the mouse wheel in the presence of enlarged windows;
both panels must not reserve the edges, the upper one will be fixed, while the lower one is "intelligent" retractable, ie it disappears when a window is enlarged or superimposed;
24px top panel with only the clock on the right, because then I will place the buttons of the window on the left, in the title bar. It will also need to be semi-transparent to integrate with the title bar;
40px lower panel with all the application menus, the application icons that I use the most, the notification area, the audio mixer, the trash can, two folder menus (one for my home folder and another for the filesystem), the shutdown button and finally the window's buttons in view of the icons only.

Linux distros are the best for those who want to join KaiOS development.
KaiOS is a new operating system for ARM chipsets, running on a Linux kernel. It is written in Javascript, HTML and CSS and is oriented towards smart feature phones. In fact, it works well on 512 MiB of RAM or less.
