February 14, 1989 - It may have taken a 41-year-old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar a bit longer to get going than it used to, but once that skyhook got rolling, it was about as unstoppable of a move we'd ever seen, right up to the day he retired.
In a Valentine's Day matchup with the eventual champion Detroit Pistons, Abdul-Jabbar converted on five of his final six skyhook attempts, connecting on 7-of-14 altogether (15 by the broadcast's count, as they likely included the missed skyhook after a foul, which is not technically a field goal attempt). It all added up to a season-high 21 points for Abdul-Jabbar in a 111-103 loss.
