Mixing baking soda and vinegar causes a chemical reaction that produces a salt and water, as well as carbon dioxide gas is released.
Carbon dioxide is incombustible and also does not support burning.
Hence, it is used in fire extinguishers.
When sprayed on burning object it stops the supply of oxygen and extinguishes the fire.
