Seed Germination Activity For Kids - Factors Affecting Germination Of Seed - EVS Experiment
The seed germination activity for kids (kindergarten, grade 1 to 5) allows us to see how life begins through a seed and what actually happens under the ground! It's a very simple EVS activity/experiment but there is a lot to learn.
Life of a plant starts with a seed. This outer covering which protects the seed is called Seed Coat. There is a small baby plant inside the seed. This baby plant can grow when the right conditions are met which include water, air and right temperature.
With right conditions, the embryo’s cells start to enlarge. At first, the seed uses the food stored within to get nutrition. Once the seed coat breaks open, the primary root, or radicle appears.
As the first true leaves appear, the plant they can make its own food through photosynthesis.
We also discussed phototropism - the ability of plants to re-orient the shoot growth towards the direction of light source.
