We’ve all had those sluggish moments while sitting at our desk or in a boring meeting, we feel as if we could very easily go into a very deep sleep. Complete with drooling and snoring!
I want to share with you two easy things that I do that bring me energy.
The first one is to get some type of exercise. This might be getting up from your desk and visiting a co-worker vs. emailing them or doing 5 minutes of exercise at your desk. According to Dr. Jack Groppel, from Johnson & Johnson, these short bursts of movement stimulate blood flow and circulation in your body, giving your brain a burst of oxygen resulting in increased energy and attentiveness. I’m including links to his research as well as links to desk exercises you can do.
The second way that I re-energize myself just my surprise you. I set aside whatever I’m working on and turn my attention to something non-work related. It might be to search the internet for something I need to purchase, do a quick check to see what’s happening in the news, or watch a video on YouTube that makes me laugh. Anything but work. I’m careful to not let time get away from me but this simple break in my work flow helps me return with greater focus and energy.
These Productivity Pointers are posted frequently here on our OrganizedAudrey channel.
