In 1861 Union and CSA forces clashed just south of Manassas Junction. The Lincoln Administration had high hopes to destroy the rebellion in one engagement. Civilians gathered on the outskirts of the battlefield to watch as if it was a show. The views of war being glamorous and heroic quickly dispersed from their minds. By 4PM The battle ended. The CSA was able to route the Union Army. The war would carry on for another four years.
