The Mule Shoe /The Bloody Angle (NTW)
During the Overland Campaign, May 12th, 1864 Grant orders an attack on the Mule Shoe. Vicious hand to hand combat occurs during the battle of the 12th at the Bloody Angle. The Union had made great strides to secure the position but were beaten back by CSA forces.
