why the ship is floating?

Most of us must wonder why ships can float on the surface of the water? Even though the ship was made of objects whether wood or iron with tons of mass.

Whereas when we put a small stone the size of a few grams just immediately sank. How could that be ?

The possible answer is that the ship must be lighter than the weight of the water

The way to make the ship float on the surface of sea water, is to make the density of the ship smaller than the density of sea water, the way is to increase the volume or empty space of the ship. To make it is volume large so that the density of vessels is smaller than the density of sea water.

If the boat weighs less than the maximum volume of water it could ever push aside (displace), it floats. But it sinks into the water until its weight and the upthrust exactly balance. ... In other words, if the boat weighs more than the total volume of water it can push aside (displaces), it sinks.
