The diffuse reflection type of square photoelectric sensor is a common sensor type widely used to detect the presence or distance of an object. Diffuse reflection photoelectric sensors work by emitting light and detecting the light reflected back from the target object. Unlike the through-beam or reflector type, the diffuse reflection type does not require an additional reflector or receiver, and the light is reflected directly from the target object back to the sensor.
Working principle:
Light source emission: The light source (usually an LED) inside the sensor emits a beam of light.
Target reflection: When the target object enters the sensor's detection range, the emitted light is reflected by the surface of the object.
Light reception: The sensor's receiver detects the reflected light, and if the reflected light intensity reaches the set threshold, the sensor will output a signal indicating that the presence of the object has been detected.
Features:
Easy installation: Since no additional reflector or through-beam end is required, installation is simpler.
Applicable to a variety of materials: Suitable for detecting objects with a variety of different surfaces, whether smooth or rough.
Limited detection distance: Compared with through-beam photoelectric sensors, diffuse reflection types have a shorter detection distance because the intensity of the reflected light decreases with increasing distance.
Anti-interference ability: Since it only relies on the reflection of the target object, the surface color and glossiness may affect the detection effect, so the anti-interference ability to ambient light and object material is relatively weak.
