Max Defends Perez After Crash In Mexico
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez suffered disappointment in front of his home crowd after crashing out on the opening lap. This coupled with Daniel Ricciardo securing AlphaTauri’s best result of the season in the same race has led to many questioning Sergio’s ambitious move around the outside of turn 1 with two cars on the inside. Teammate Max Verstappen has now explained it from a driver’s perspective

Max Defends Perez After Crash In Mexico
Max started off by stating that he understands why Checo went for such a move
“I understand because, I mean, it’s his home Grand Prix. He wants to be on the podium”
“I fully understand that he went around the outside and he tried”
He then touched upon what Perez could have done differently
“Looking at, of course, the footage, he could have left a little bit more space”
He signed off by pointing out how it would have been a great move had Perez pulled it off
“But at the other end, if it would have worked, it would look amazing”
“I think it’s just more like that excitement of wanting to be on the podium”
“And this time it didn’t work out, unfortunately”
