I’m really attracted to the behavioural and health improvements noticed by the author of ‘Hedgehogs of Asgard’ on Tumblr when she started to use a bioactive enclosure for her African Pygmy Hedgehog.

After experimenting using a forage box with its own clean up crew, I felt prepared enough to give a more naturalistic approach a go.

Bioactive vivariums for hedgehogs, is still a new idea and still requires intervention in the form of clean up from the people who have them because of the volume of waste produced by a hedgehog as opposed to a reptile.
