What do we mean by identical particles?

📚 In this video we learn about identical particles and compare their properties in the classical and the quantum worlds. In both worlds, exchanging two identical particles does not affect the physics. However, while classically we can always keep track of individual identical particles (they are "distinguishable"), in quantum mechanics it is impossible to say which particle is which (they are "indistinguishable"). This has profound implications for quantum systems of identical particles, including exchange degeneracy or the existence of bosons and fermions.
